Which one suits you?

Choose Bedrock Dictate if

  • Auto-edit takes out the ums, fixes punctuation and keeps your correction, on your PC.
  • Your own words, learned from your list or your Obsidian vault.
  • Snippets and a writing style for each app.
  • Stats, settings that follow you to a new PC, and a support team that replies.

Choose Handy if

  • Free for good, with no limit.
  • Open source, so anyone can read and change the code.
  • Works on Mac and Linux too.
  • A choice of speech models, including your own.

Where your
voice goes.

Handy and Bedrock Dictate both turn your speech into text on your own computer, so with either one your voice stays with you. The difference is what happens next: Bedrock Dictate can tidy your words with Auto-edit, also on your PC.

Bedrock Dictate is built local first. Your dictation history is saved on your PC, and your vocabulary, snippets and styles are backed up to your account so they follow you to a new PC. Your recordings and your words are never part of that.
